The organization of the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon has announced the postponement of the IV edition of the most important and numerous sports event on the island of Ibiza to next Saturday, April 10, 2021, as long as there is a health context with safety guarantees for runners , relatives and Ibizan society. Despite the will and effort of the organization until the last moment to be able to offer the #RunAndFeel experience to all lovers of running races this year, the serious situation has forced the Balearic Government to recently restrict the realization of the event that It has about 3,000 participants of numerous European and international nationalities.

From the organizing committee they have communicated that the negative evolution of the pandemic generated by Covid-19 and aggravated by the second wave of massive infections forces to postpone the sporting event until there is a health safety scenario for sports practice. Thus, both the organization and the Balearic institutions, the sponsors and the collaborators of the project have decided to postpone the event until the situation allows to enjoy this sporting and tourist experience on the island of Ibiza.

The organization regrets the inconvenience that this decision causes to those registered who have already been informed, via e-mail, with the options for managing their number. In this sense, the director of Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon, Francisco Larrey, has highlighted: “We have worked hard to be able to offer running lovers the best sporting experience on the island until the last minute, but the current worrying health circumstances force us to be cautious and postpone the date until we can guarantee the health security of our runners, their families and the entire Ibizan society. Sport should contribute to improving people’s health and that is how we understand it”.

From the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon they have valued the enormous effort and work carried out during these months in coordination with the political and health authorities to make the event possible through the constant adaptation of the changing regulations derived from the health protocols that have been established as a result of the serious health effects caused by Covid-19. The sporting event consisting of four distances – marathon, Relay 21K + 21K, 12K and the new 20K – was initially scheduled for April 4, a date that had to be postponed to October 3 due to the health emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic

Finally, from the Ibiza Marathon they thank the institutions, sponsors and collaborators of the project for the effort made to carry out the event. Likewise, they regret the uncertainty experienced by runners and express their apologies for the inconvenience they may have caused to running lovers. “I want to convey that from today we get to work with all the enthusiasm and desire to offer all runners the best possible sports experience on April 10, 2021, contributing to the generation of quality and seasonally adjusted sports tourism on the island“, Francisco Larrey, director of the sporting event, has highlighted.
