The new Ibiza 20K arrives to complete the sports offer of the Ibiza Marathon. The 20-kilometer race joins the already consolidated Ibiza Marathon, Ibiza 12K and the 21K + 21K Relay relay mode to complete the distance spectrum and make the test accessible to all types of runners. Thus, on April 4, the island of Ibiza will house a new distance that already begins to add the first registered for its first edition.
The Ibiza 20K responds to an innovative and pioneering initiative in Spain with a new distance of 20 kilometers that is being a success in countries like France, with the 20K in Paris, which has more than 25,000 participants under its belt. In this way, with the creation of this new modality, the sports tourism model proposed by the Consell d’Eivissa and the five city councils of the island is expanded and promoted, thus promoting the seasonality and the arrival of visitors to the Pitiusas during the spring.
The route of the Ibiza 20K will pass through the most marked enclaves of the island, the rural areas and will have as a starting point the town of Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera. In addition, as a climax, the goal will be located in the maritime area of Ibiza, which will be a unique end to a new test that will celebrate its first edition on April 4, 2020.
Francisco Larrey, director of the Ibiza Marathon, believes that “the arrival of this new intermediate distance will guarantee a further boost to the growth of the Ibiza Marathon, which is already the most massive test of the island and one of the most striking sporting experiences worldwide” .
Registration is now available and can be purchased at a price of € 35 until December 15, when the price change will occur. From then until March 29, they will cost € 40.
