APNEEF is the Association of People with Special Needs of Ibiza and Formentera that brings together children and teenagers with any type of physical, mental, sensory and / or cognitive disability. From the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon we wanted to collaborate with a non-profit association of the island that would focus on a human cause like this. The purpose of APNEEF is to help people with functional diversity to achieve their maximum personal autonomy, improving their quality of life and their relatives and companions too.
This is possible thanks to the “Assisted Walking Program” which consists of training with them to achieve walking and get around with the least possible help and thanks by their own. This program involves all children who have not been able to walk or who walk but have certain difficulties.
The good results achieved in this program lead to many children coming to the association in search of a space to start their road to recovery. They need support to continue offering the trainings, physiotherapists and materials that make up the project.
We want to contribute to this program and make visible the work of the APNEEF association by giving the option to runners to make a contribution of 2 euros during their race bib purchase process.
APNEEF & Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon
In addition, the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon collaborated with APNEEF in 2021 on October 2nd, the day of the sporting event, organizing the young members of the non-profit association a symbolic race in the port of Ibiza. In this way, the members of the ONG run the first 100 meters of the most important race on the island passing through the starting arch and receiving the finisher medal.
